Honda annuncia il giro ufficiale record della Civic Typer R Model Year 2018 presentata recentemente al Salone di Ginevra. La hatchback giapponese ha stabilito il tempo di 7 minuti, 43 secondi e 8 decimi.
LE CONDIZIONI DEL TEST
Il tempo è stato ottenuto lo scorso 3 aprile da un esemplare utilizzato per lo sviluppo e sotto condizioni ottimali di pista e meteo. Per ragioni di sicurezza è stata installata una gabbia rollbar integrale ma, afferma Honda, questo non ha portato alcun vantaggio in termini di rigidità strutturale. Il maggio peso creato è stato compensato eliminando sedili posteriori e sistema infotainment. Per i pneumatici sono stati utilizzati componenti di serie con specifiche per la guida in pista.
PEGGIO DI LEI, MEGLIO DI LEI
Il tempo della Type R migliora i 7’44” della Pagani Zonda C12 S e dell’Audi R8 V10. E fa meglio della Jaguar XJ 220 (7:46,3), della Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 e della Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (7’47”). Davanti a lei, poco distanti, ci sono la Porsche 996 GT3 RS (7’46”), la Chevy Corvette Z06 del 2005 (7’42″9) e la Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 Superveloce (7’42”).
PIU’ POTENTE E RIGIDA
Il nuovo modello, nato nell’ambito della 10ma evoluzione della Honda Civic, presenta una rigidità torsionale aumentata – rispetto al modello precedente – del ‘38% a fronte di un alleggerimento del complesso telaio-carrozzeria di 16 kg. E’ inoltre presente una nuova sospensione posteriore multilink.
Sotto il cofano pulsa un’edizione aggiornata del 4 cilindri 2 litri V-TEC con turbocompressore: fornisce 320 Cv e 400 Nm di coppia massima, distribuiti alla trazione anteriore e al cambio meccanico a 6 rapporti.

On 3 April 2017, during the final phase of the model’s testing regime, on a dry track with an optimum ambient temperature for the best tyre and powertrain performance, the all-new Honda Civic Type R has set a new benchmark lap time for front-wheel drive cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
A development car lapped the world-famous circuit in 7 minutes 43.8 seconds, an improvement of nearly seven seconds compared to the model’s predecessor and of 5,5 seconds on the Volkswagen Golf GTI R.
Several factors contributed to the new Civic Type R’s new benchmark time at the Nordschleife:7
– The high-rigidity body frame of the all-new Civic Type R is 16kg lighter than the previous model’s, with a torsional stiffness improvement of 38%
– New multi-link rear suspension
– Optimised and refined 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine, producing 320 PS and 400Nm of torque
– New lower gear ratios in the six-speed manual transmission
– New Type R‘s comprehensive aerodynamic package
The development car that achieved the lap time was technically representative of production specification. A full floating roll cage was installed for safety reasons, but its presence did not provide any additional rigidity to the body frame. The extra weight of the cage was compensated for by the temporary removal of the infotainment system and rear seats. The car was using road legal track-focused tyres.
Production of the new Civic Type R will begin in summer 2017 at Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) in Swindon – the global manufacturing hub for the tenth generation Civic hatchback.
